Entering any establishment, I've always felt most comfortable when the proprietor himself/herself has been present on the premises as a way of personalizing the business. While I'm probably actually present in the studio as you read this, the best I can do under these “cybercircumstances” is to extend a virtual handshake and welcome in the form of a brief couple of paragraphs which will tell you a little about who I am and what I do.
I was born in Rhode Island, raised in Worcester County, Massachusetts, and have resided in New Hampshire (currently in Durham) for three decades. I was educated at Providence College, Northeastern University, and hold a doctorate from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. All of my degrees are in literary study.
As a jazz musician, photographer and long-time professor of literature, my life has always centered on the arts, so it should not have surprised anyone who knows me when I announced, in 2001, my intention to build a first-class recording studio and to take on recording projects that would help others celebrate their love of music - whatever music type that happened to be. Since my studio opened, I've tried to shepherd every level of professional and pre-professional musician toward a single goal: the fulfillment of whatever project dream each brings to the studio.
Ethos East Music is my music project label and you can expect to be able to purchase - at a reasonable price - CDs from some of the best jazz musicians from the Northeast corridor. Our first album "Songs in the Key of Em" is now available.
Also available via the Store page are fine art giclée jazz photographs. The giclée printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. Giclée (a French term meaning "to spray") has all the tonalities and hues of the original photograph. Special light fast inks (eight on the Epson 4800 printer I use) will retain color for decades. I've given my jazz series an original look (thanks to the creative advantages of Photoshop) and have several print sizes available, double-matted and ready to ship in print-safe mailers. All prints are on fine art quality, Hawk Mountain Sharpwing Luster 11 mil, microporous photobase paper.
Last but not least, visit the MaxOut blog for ramblings, latest gigs and news.
